The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time
The Journey
The story of the Ocarina of Time is truly a masterpiece. A young Kokiri, he’s actually a Hylian, embarks on a journey to save Princess Zelda and the land of Hyrule from Ganondorf, The Gerudo King of Thieves, by preventing Ganondorf from obtaining the 3 pieces of the Triforce. Link accomplishes this by saving the six sages of Hyrule from their own unknowingness, and fighting the evil king from atop his floating castle (must have cost a fortune).
The main story aspect that really gave the title praise was the time travel mechanic, Link pulling the master sword, sending him 7 years into the future when he is old enough to wield the sword and save Hyrule from Ganondorf, the king of evil. Nintendo has developed a fantastic story line which a lot of video games heavily lack.

The Land of Hyrule!
The original 3D fantasy world that was created contains a mass of creatures, species, and locations giving the game depth and originality. Almost every other game nowadays is losing originality by copying. That’s not to say these games are bad, but they are far from original. The Ocarina of Time has everything from forests of elves, mountains of Gorons, creepy Redeads, and lakes full of Zora. Likewise, The land of Ocarina of Time, Hyrule, takes Link everywhere from inside an active volcano, on a giant floating castle, inside a talking Deku Tree, the house of the dead, walking around on the bottom of a lake (like a boss), stranded in the middle of the desert, and even in the stomach of a whale! The diversity of this game is endless which really leaves the player with a true feeling of adventure and imagination that no other game can match.
Z-targeting and Dungeons!
The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time was the first game to successfully use the 3D mechanic by introducing Z-targeting. Combining this new 3D mechanic with the perfect level of difficulty makes exploring the game a lot more exciting. My personal favorite aspect of the game is the elaborate design of every temple to be unique, challenging, and fun. Each level has its own new mechanic which really keeps the game exciting. Feel like walking on the ceiling? Head for the forest temple! Want to be infuriated by the most annoying game level in the history of time? Go through the water temple! Want to wake up in the middle of the night scared out of your mind? Enter the shadow temple with its mass of Redeads.
The Ending Result
The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time is a diverse and original game which grabs the gamer with its excellent story and perfect level of difficulty. No other game has yet to manage such perfection and balance. This is my first hub so comment below or send me an email at TheZeldaSeries@gmail.com I'd love to hear from you!

It very much is. Objectively, there are a number of aspects of the game that haven't aged all that well. However, the design was fantastic, and the scope of the game is no less breathtaking today than it was when it was first released in 1998.
More subjectively: The game, along with A Link to the Past, make up big portions of my childhood. I love the Zelda franchise so much. :)
Ocarina of Time really set the benchmark, not just in terms of 3D game design, but for the Zelda series at large. While A Link to the Past perfected the 2D side of the franchise, Ocarina created a foundation for 3D that is still being used today. Even the Zelda storyline is heavily influenced by it (this one game splits off into three different timelines). However, despite how influential this game was (and still is), I would argue that since the release of Skyward Sword, it has usurped Ocarina as the best Zelda game. Maybe I'm just saying that because it's so new, but it was the first giant leap in innovation since Ocarina and had a story so rich with Zelda goodness that it left a lasting impression. It will be interesting to see where they take the series from here.
